What metaverse? Meta says its single largest investment is now in 'advancing AI'
- floatinglotus 4y agoThere is really no one in charge over there. They haven’t had an actual CEO since Sandberg left. Mark thinks he can run the business from his private island, there are major problems in the core business and he’s screwing around trying to build his own version of Roblox.
- shortrounddev 4y agoZuckerberg should leave Facebook to work full time on metaverse. Facebook is now playing catch-up with every other big tech company and not pushing the envelope. Oculus/metaverse might be big, might not be, I have no idea, but it's obvious that Facebook is feature-complete as far as Mark is concerned and there's not much else for him to do there.
- coffeebeqn 4y agoI think oculus is a good and important business but it’s way too early to make it their flagship. Especially since Facebook doesn’t have the hardware chops like Apple. They are fully reliant on mobile phone hardware getting better to make their headset smaller and faster. So they can’t speed the process up no matter how many billions they throw at it. Plus their game/virtual world development efforts have been laughable. Really not playing to their strengths.

In other words, there is a noteable lack of direction, focus, creativity and originality. Most entrepreneurs are allocated at most one or two really successful endeavors. Zuck may have already used up his allotment.
