I know the article isn’t really about door close buttons but after just coming back from Japan I can confirm that every door close button did exactly what you’d expect it to.
- nagonago 4y agoLiving in Japan, I can confirm that elevator door close buttons tend to work much more immediately than in the US. Also, the doors themselves are more aggressive, so it's inadvisable to try to stop the door with your hand. These two things combined lead to an elevator culture where somebody will usually hold the door open button until everybody gets in, then press the door close button. Efficient.
