When AI/robot labor is cheaper than human labor in all aspects, the people who own the robots will look around at the dying planet and the 8 billion excess people that are causing the dying (ignoring the fact that people with capital generally have more power to wreck the planet than uncontacted Amazonian tribes). Then they'll look at the fact that they don't have a spare habitable planet to live on; they prioritized their robots over Biosphere 3.0, after all. And then they'll decide that they simply don't have the resources, and certainly not the incentive or goodwill, to provide those 8 billion people with an easy life, much less a luxurious life. So we become.... externalities, I think, is the economic term. :)
