See the difference? How would you feel if developers earned as much as artists do?
- mjr00 4y agoI don't really know what you're getting at. My point is that DALL-E/Stable Diffusion hasn't cut into the market for actual paid artists. Like, at all. Unlike what the doomsayers predicted. Software developers should feel equally as threatened, which is to say, not at all.
- DrBenCarson 4y agoI’m getting at the fact that “art” isn’t a major cost for the most valuable companies in the world. Software development labor is an enormous cost. There is no financial incentive to replace paid artists. There is an enormous financial incentive to reduce software development headcount.

Older folks will remember when the solution to this was to outsource development to low-cost regions like South American or Southeast Asia. You can ask ChatGPT how that went.
- worrycue 4y agoIf people don’t make art for money there wouldn’t be such a huge blowback from AI art.
- DrBenCarson 4y agoPeople need to survive. Making 400k/yr is a bit more than survival.
