"AFAIK, there are more jobs than skilled people applying." This is what everyone seems to be missing. Not everyone in society can or wants to be a senior cloud engineering architect or a AI specialist. The jobs that enable large swathes of people to productively contribute in society are going to be removed before people in the current generation can reskill (if they can afford it) and the next generation will work harder for less pay for a smaller pool of jobs. Offshoring was shifting work not replacing it. Economy is going to hurt without some sort of UBI because capitalism only works when people have money to spend.
