AI alignment people are dedicated to fending off the gigantic PR disasters like Tay (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tay_(bot) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tay_(bot)) in order to keep their funding.
Whether either is capable of "bringing AGI to life" remains to be seen, but seems very doubtful.
