Show HN: ByteSync – Remote sync is 10x faster than FTPS and SFTP on small files
- paulfresquet 4y agoHi, I am Paul, the OP. ByteSync is a file synchronization program that accepts up to 5 remote clients per synchronization session. Its particularity is that it transmits data via Azure servers and uses delta synchronization (it transfers only the differences between files). Thus, it is a very simple tool to deploy on Windows, Linux and macOS, which offers excellent transfer performances with a lot of flexibility in the synchronization possibilities. Data privacy is protected by end-to-end encryption. I would like to share the optimization work I have performed to improve the processing of small files, which have always caused performance issues with FTPS & SFTP. In the last measurements I made, ByteSync is at least 10x faster to transfer files than these protocols.
