Excellent!
goes through the terrible UI of google cloud console
Nothing there. I see it's not actually today it's a sometime soon with some people in a private preview. Any info on what model size they're actually releasing?
Time to try the demo they showed in google docs.

Oh.
It's good that they're actually planning to ship stuff, but when? I've seen private previews sit around certainly for 6+ months, probably a lot longer.
- sf_rob 4y agoI'm looking forward to seeing some of this make its way to general release, but I'd guess that this post is in the vein of their hurried initial press response to Chat GPT.
- topicseed 4y agoGoogle needs to nail their launches better... We're all tired of Google Forms demos and access...
- IanCal 4y agoIt's quite something. I wish they'd just be more up front about it because then I'd probably be more excited. These changes are incredible, and it's a shame my general feeling is disappointment from trying and failing to use something. They do this all the time launching something in the US but not mentioning the limits leaving me struggling to get something to work. It doesn't help that their approach to ai is often "don't worry a magic thing will tell when you want it and will make it appear" and I don't know if I'm not making the right incantations or it's broken or it's not available. I wish these would all come with a "notify me when available" button at the very top.
