Online multiplayer on the Game Boy (2021) [video]
- grugagag 4y agoGreat project! This seems fun and though retro I like the spirit of this more than more modern and more complex games. Good job guys. Hope to see more of this…
- matt3210 4y agoGuys… I got a Kadabra on my Pokémon blue that needs traded to evolve, anyone have a Haunter?
- zoklet-enjoyer 4y agoWe should all get these and have a killer instinct tournament
- LightMachine 4y agoI really wanted an online Pokémon-like experience that didn't require having a console and that didn't suck
- matt3210 4y agoLet’s make a carbon copy of Pokémon blue/red for regular gameboy except it’s mmo. Users pick red or blue and have to trade to get the missing ones…. Gotta catch ‘em all!

- aleph_minus_one 4y agoHave a look at Temtem.
- gattilorenz 4y agoWhat is not very clear to me is whether this now only works for Tetris because the RasPi has to decode the content of the packets, or if you can also just forward whatever comes from the GB to another GB across the internet and call it a day (and use any game)
- layzee69 4y agobruh dude posted his code, just read it
- mid-kid 4y agoIt decodes the content of the packets. The game boy serial port essentially executes a transfer in both directions at the same time, so the other side has to have its data ready by the time the transfer starts. Making this generic over the internet would be downright impossible, especially considering some games need to have one of the sides control the clock (when the transfers take place) in order for the game logic to work.
- gattilorenz 4y agoRight, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation!
- justaj 4y agoKind of sucks that a Discord server is created for matchmaking purposes of this awesome open source project. A Matrix room or space would have been much more appropriate.
