    I’m genuinely curious. Why would someone who feels that way about the tech industry bother participating in a tech-industry / startup-accelerator-sponsored forum?

  Just signed a contract for the highest salary I've ever earned in my life, ten times what I started at when I was young. Technology doesn't begin and end at bullshit, moronic startups designed to solve such "hideously difficult problems" like food delivery and coordinating shopping. There's been too much money sloshing around to go to such idiotic ideas, and now the wallet is just being tightened a little. Meanwhile, anyone who works as a programmer in primary industry or other similarly grounded fields has noticed no change at all.
