Improving Programmer Productivity (Mind Map)
- nickolai 15y agoNice list, A few nitpicks : + *Coffeine* Gaaaah. An IT guy misspelling Caffeine. + *twits* This one is actualy funny. A "twit" is a moron. A "tweet" is a twitter message. The "No twits" thing definitely helps concentration, but did you mean "tweet" ? I would also add a part about cutting out hardware/tool-related frustration. Nothing kicks me out of the flow like the system freezing, having to hunt for free disk space on the test server, etc.
- SergeyHack 15y agoNice catches! Thanks. Fixing...
- thomasjoulin 15y agoalso, I'm sure you meant minute in "Can take only 10 munites a day"
- SergeyHack 15y agoFixed.
- LearnYouALisp 15y agoYes, but that's how caffeine (not capitalized) is spelled in Russian and German also. "Tvit" seems to come from the Russian word, too.
- perokreco 15y agoFun fact, in some eastern European languages, coffee and caffeine are the other way around, kafa and kofein for example.
- victorhn 15y agoAnother one: studing.
- victorhn 15y agoAnother one: beleive.
- theorique 15y agoInteresting to see Core Transformation in a posting about programming. I highly recommend CT as a low-cost self-coaching / self-therapy methodology. And if you can find a partner, so much the better. Highly recommended to untwist mental knots and resolve issues from the past that are bothering you until now.
- itmag 15y agoAs a self-help junkie who has heard CT mentioned before, this sparked my interest. Do tell me more :)
- SergeyHack 15y agoHere is the site: http://coretransformation.org/ http://coretransformation.org/. The book is very good. There are videos of the sessions on YouTube, but they are not explaining the process.
- itmag 15y agoCool to see people on HN who are not anti-selfhelp. We should start a site like HN but about stuff like this? :) Reality Hacker News, maybe? :)
- SergeyHack 15y agoMaybe. The main question is how the initial quality audience can be found and involved? Are there enough blogs to link to? The similar StackExchange site can not start for quite a long time: http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/17225/personal-development http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/17225/personal-dev...
- itmag 15y agoI think a good gateway into personal development is lifestyle design, and there are plenty of blogs in that genre.
- bdg 15y agoWould someone care to explain the difference between red and black text in the image to me?
- SergeyHack 15y agoRed ones are notes, black ones are the main content.
- victorhn 15y agoBy "Medicines improving blood flow in the brain", do you mean something like nootropics?
- SergeyHack 15y agoSorry, but I have chosen not to reveal the easy answer. I don't want to feel myself responsible for other people harming their health when they are not careful.
- jeremywho 15y agoSo if it's as bad as you make it sound, then you should probably not be using the substance with which you refer?
- SergeyHack 15y agoMaybe I'm overcautious here. It's not a white/ black thing. If you know under what circumstances there could be bad side effects, if you listen to your body it's not bad. But there are some people that just want a simple answer and are not interested in knowing the details.
- civilian 15y agoThat's lame. We're not kids, we can make our own decisions. It's not like we're going to totally trust some random dude on the internet.
- christiancoomer 15y agoRegarding "Leaving clues, marks when switching topics/projects", some helpful tools for me are vim (configured to remember cursor position) and gnu screen.
