- yccs27 4y agoProbably got traction because the headline is much clearer and the language is not twisted by the YC PR team.

- gtirloni 4y agoIt sucks for those impacted but at least it's not some BS excuse like in most recent layoffs. I hope they find new jobs soon.
- mola 4y agoLaid off. I can understand why YC PR would use that weird language, but why copy it?
- gtirloni 4y agoBecause that's the term being used for mass firings, even if you don't like it. You can look it up in a dictionary, it's a valid word.
- mola 4y agoWhat dictionary are you using? Impacted is being strongly affected by something. It's a vague term that avoids using the specific thing that happen: people were laid off. Being impacted could also mean got a promotion.
- gtirloni 4y agooh, impacted is a trouble word now too? interesting. in the name of efficiency, could you list all the words you're offended by?
- sinoue 4y agoThe best startups are founded in downturns. I wish there was funding to expand YC with so much great talent now available in the market.
