So, this person was working basically non-stop for 3 months to make 65k. Working 12 hours a day for 90 days would yield an hourly rate of roughly 60 USD. Not sure this is sustainable or worth it in the long run.
- marginalia_nu 4y agoDepends on where they live I guess. Cost of living has a big impact. In some places 65k is several years' income, in a few it's enough to retire on.
- unmole 4y ago> a few it's enough to retire on. Assuming a 4% safe withdrawal rate, 65k gives you 2600 USD an year. Moving to a country where that is enough to retire on will mean a significant reduction in standard of living.
- marginalia_nu 4y agoAssuming you didn't start out there
- aix1 4y agoThe blog mentions Bali.
- powerapple 4y agoIf you enjoy it, it is like playing games for 3 months and make 65k.
- bearmode 4y agoThey live in Bali, avg monthly wage is around $900. In that context it sounds pretty good.
- janosdebugs 4y agoAverage across the populace? Or average among IT professionals?
- Jeannen 4y agoHey! Op of the blog here To give additional context, I worked non-stop for one month to make the app Other 2 months were pretty chill, I did marketing mainly, which didn't took all my time :) But before that, I worked non-stop for 6 months or so, I learned to code in May and was learning + making apps to learn non-stop from May to January

- Jeannen 4y agoHehe, thanks a lot! Prioritization is key, I didn't wasted time on unnecessary things!
