Neither their name nor history matter to me so, as long as their services are useful and pricing is reasonable, I will continue using OpenAI services.

  That's a reasonable position to take and probably makes a lot of business sense. Yet it's great to see that there are alternatives emerging as this forces OpenAI/Microsoft to innovate and hopefully limits their ability to hike up prices once they've captured the market in a year or two. We don't really need another quasi uncontested tech monopoly
