I'm perfectly fine with 8GB and can even make 4GB systems work fine. The key is to use an ad blocker as browser ads have just completely destroyed browsing 99% of the web. It is truly unbelievable the performance difference with ads on vs. off. The other big thing is I never have more than 4-5 tabs open--anything beyond that just bookmark the sites and come back later, having hundreds of tabs open is just silly and a true anti pattern for research and thinking.
