- airbreather 4y agoOne point that I couldn't find mentioned in the article is that an arc (he often calls spark) creates a negative resistance, which partially or totally counteracts the R in the RLC, giving extended ringing or even crtical/overdamped oscillations. This was a key part of how early spark gap transmitters worked. Negative reistance is more common than might be thought, if you search around you willl find a bit of info.
