New Research Illuminates Escalating Online Violence on Musk’s Twitter
- 0xy 4y ago>UK Government-funded Online Violence Early Warning System Ah yes, the country who charges women for repeating rap music as a "hate crime". [1] Forgive me for immediately discarding this 'research', from a country that tramples free speech. >brutally attacked online They don't define what an "attack" is, nor show any examples, nor provide data. But digging into the source, it says "35% was designed to undermine her credibility as a journalist or commentator" -- ah, so you aren't allowed to even question a journalist's credibility (and it's "violence"). This research is garbage. [1] https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-merseyside-43816921 https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-merseyside-43816921
- DoItToMe81 4y agoNot just rap music. People have been jailed for making fun of the monarchy or popular footballers. They are DESPERATELY looking for reasons to justify mass monitoring and censorship, and this is no doubt part of it, just as the "protecting the children" spiel they have is. I find it particularly sickening that somebody saying "You're an idiot" to some self appointed info janitor is being put in the same category as being raped, having your family kidnapped or being murdered. You know, the actual violence that affects real female journalists across the world.
