You don't need to change any schedule.
- s1artibartfast 4y agoSure, it isn't mandatory , but people will want to because they don't like getting up 3 hours before dawn to take their kids to school and go to work.
- jameshart 4y agoI don’t like working through for hours after sunset in the middle of winter but I suck it up and do it. In northern latitudes there aren’t enough daylight hours for a full working day to be between sunrise and sunset. That’s the immutable constraint - everything else is to deal with that.
- pwinnski 4y agoOkay, I generally agree with you, but it's hard to see how a change (er, lack of change) of one hour on clocks suddenly results in "3 hours before dawn." The hyperbole doesn't help, IMO. Also, we see frequent posts here on HN about how schools ought to start later overall, for all students, so it seems reasonable to think that school could be made to start well after sunrise for everyone all year long.
- s1artibartfast 4y agoThe thing is we know exactly what time change does. It moves the clock back 1 hour for 6 months of the year. This reduces the difference between school start and sunrise by one hour. Making school start Larter in general is a hard problem because there is only one real option and nobody likes it
