No idea what Ford is thinking here as AM radio (whether people like it or not) is an essential service, especially in vast areas of Canada where the Mustang will be sold and FM radio signals don't propagate well, if at all. Are they trying to force buyers into satellite subscriptions? Do not want. One possible point of solace for fans of AM stations: if local FM stations in North America are broadcasting in HD Radio they are more than likely also broadcasting the local AM station(s) on subchannels. Again, in vast areas of Canada, FM signals do not propagate, for a variety of reasons related to the immense geographic distances and differences.
