Not all, but 1-2 people in a team of 10 can steer development into rabbit hole of rewriting in rust/re-frameworking/re-architecturing. There should be someone who connects engineers to reality that's driven by business needs and limited funding, and each line of code has a price tag.
- Tanjreeve 4y agoAt the other end of the scale not everything can be solved with the HN standby of bash scripts and a SQLite DB and things being slow or unstable isn't "technical debt" but an actual problem that can kill people. Not everyone who is working on non trivial solutions is doing it just for the sake of looking clever.
