In general it seems like the things that have actually ended up changing the world significantly in my lifetime seemed insignificant when they were first introduced. The first time I was on the internet it seemed novel, but unimportant. When I created my first social media account, it was interesting, playful, and not going to change the world. The iPhone was a joke, who would want a phone that big?
The simple fact that people are predicting that GPT will somehow change the world makes me doubt its actual value.

Social media was a huge deal starting with SixDegrees. The iPhone was incredibly hyped at the time. I think ChatGPT is worth doubting, but I think your examples need some work.
