I was VP at Google for 10 years. No. 1 skill I looked for at job interviews
- labrador 4y agoSorry for the click bait title but I posted this because I've been thinking about how much more self-awareness I have now that I am older than I did when I was younger and how many people don't seem to have much self-awareness at all. The article is interesting because it asks questions about how you know if you have self-awareness, which I think is a good thing to ask.
- jollyllama 4y ago>You consistently get feedback that you disagree with. This doesn’t mean the feedback is correct, but it does mean that how others perceive you differs from how you perceive yourself. So what? There are a lot of reasons why the perceptions might not match. There are standards of respect and etiquette to uphold (if you don't do that, you lack tact or civility, not self-awareness) but beyond that, worrying about this is either a recipe for neuroticism or conformity. Edit: Avoiding self-delusion is good, but delusion (of grandeur or otherwise) is a step beyond lacking self-awareness.
