There are many different definitions of poverty- but often, poverty is defined as a ratio or in relationship to others income. When using a definition like that, you will always have poverty in any state where you have any form of free monetary trade. We can and we should do better. But we will never eliminate poverty so long as we want freedom of economic trade. (And use a definition that is relative).
