I thought PayPal's selling point is keeping one safe from shady sellers...? Personally I don't think Microsoft is gonna leak my CC details. Neither will an OSS

I thought PayPal's selling point is keeping one safe from shady sellers...? Personally I don't think Microsoft is gonna leak my CC details. Neither will an OSS developer run away after my donation (or if they do, it's not a huge deal). So why don't these "sponsors" just use their Credit Card?

Credit Cards aren't really popular outside North America.
