I worked as a studio assistant in NYC after art school, then an adjunct professor at colleges all over California and along the way at several science museums, then at an education-oriented startup. I literally observed this kind of systematic abuse in all these work environments and the toxic trail of embittered, wonderfully talented and passionate creative people that kind of system creates and leaves in its wake. I've also seen this from a distance at FAANG companies, specifically AWS. Anyway I was lucky to get out.
