As an owner of a software company, handing me or anyone else at the company a resume is actually a (slight) negative. It means you're handing it out to anyone who will take it, and you haven't done the research on our company. One can certainly overcome such a tiny black mark, though, since we definitely forgive ignorance in the strange ways we sometimes do things.
