Ask HN: Should I follow the herd and implement AI or
Hey all, I'm currently building an OKR platform called Distilled atm and I'm trying to figure out a few things. I've been brainstorming a "Marketplace" that would host community driven OKR templates that are deployable with a single click to the app. This pros to this are:
- Network effects
- Community
- More focused OKRs
With all the hype around AI however, I'm wondering if we should implement some Chat GPT type features to allow people to develop their OKRs that way. I don't see many pros to this, but it might be a cool marketing gimmick. Some points I've considered:
- May be more seamless
- Expensive
- Not as community driven
- projectramo 4y agoThe pro is that chatGPT would probably quickly surface many okrs the user would not have thought of, and could answer questions about the pros and cons. It could also answer questions about how many wild be suitable and sub okr that may feed into the main okr and so forth
- jdbohrman 4y agoYeah I guess this isn't a question of either or there's no reason I can't do both if I implement it correctly
- brucethemoose2 4y agoIf you go the GPT route, try to make the backend flexible instead of marrying it to ChatGPT's API. Competing services (if not self hosted LLMs) could drive prices down very soon. Also, those ideas are not mutually exclusive.
- jdbohrman 4y agoYeah that's another thing I'm thinking about right now. Any specific services to look out for?
- brucethemoose2 4y agoFacebook's llama model, which has already leaked out, lol.
- jdbohrman 4y agoOh interesting. I'll check that out!
- brucethemoose2 4y agoAlso to elaborate on what I meant earlier, maybe you could "cache" GPT results and reduce costs by letting users publish the better GPT results on your service as templates.
- jdbohrman 4y agoThat's a SUPER interesting idea!
- usgroup 4y agobare in mind that you're leaking information to ChatGPT -- i'm not sure that many are thinking about that in a sober way just yet.
