It Turns Out Money Does Buy Happiness, at Least Up to $500k
- projectramo 4y agoIt must be non-linear. Surely the 20th billion isn’t as good as the 5th
- wanderingstan 4y agoI think non-linearity was present even in earlier paper. More money adds a lot of happiness when you're poor, but marginally less as your income goes up. The question this post is addressing is whether this effect tops out at ~75K as was found in the research from 10 years ago.
- projectramo 4y agoAgree but topping out is similar to saying that the slope changes. Maybe after hitting 75k, it takes another $400k to make an appreciable difference. It may take a another $40mm to make a difference at $750k (100x for a 10x change)

- _2uwr 4y agoThis figure has gone up, I remember when it was under half of this, just over a decade ago, thats a lot of inflation! This is also the most important inflationary metric to consider, it shows you what you need to earn to be happy, and the fact most people dont earn this tells me there are a lot of unhappy people out there.
