How The Washington Post verified its journalists on Mastodon
- 1letterunixname 4y agoFederation of identies and of verification between centralized and distributed social media needs to be managed to interoperate by both megacorps and FOSS distributed projects. They're effectively forced to be cooperative frenemies.

- MattJ100 4y agoI don't know that crypto is really necessary in this case. It's already standardized, and is there something specific that worries you about the security of it? That said, the answer to your question is "yes" - the branch of crypto you are looking for is "verifiable credentials" (searching for that term will get you plenty of info).
- ZeroGravitas 4y agoIs there a way for the browser to verify these? At the moment it feels like you just need CSS with a green tick on your clone site to spoof this.
