I had one of those weird TNT2 M64 cards that you could fool into thinking it was a proper TNT2. Unfortunately for mine the foolery didn't work perfectly and I recall the card was a bit unstable when running that way, or maybe it didn't achieve the optimal performance possible for one of those fiddled M64s. Not really a huge surprise, IIRC it was a super cheap card...
