Let's rephrase that: All the commercial streaming boxes suck now As mentioned elsewhere a single board computer like a Raspberry Pi running LibreElec + Kodi still works fine. Jellyfin is another good alternative. It was clear from the outset that commercial streaming things would eventually turn into steaming piles of muck since that is the way all such things go. The same is true for "smart" televisions (and most other commercial "smart" things) as there is always the urge to "monetize" that extra channel which has been opened to the customer, to "partner" with "affiliates" to deliver "added value", to... turn everything into shit. Run your own things instead using free software on your own hardware without ties to some data-leaching mother ship somewhere out on the 'net.
