But in this case, what the platforms are doing is trading safety of non-users for privacy of users. The ability to share bits in an unmoderatable ecosystem, where the potential audience is Very Large, will create a blue ocean for underground communities who produce, procure, and curate illegal content. This in turn will endanger yet more people who end up being a non-consenting subject in the illegal content.
