"end of free social media"
Corporate and government controlled social media has been quite expensive for a long time. Stuff you do not want is forced into your feed. Your every action is tracked and recorded to be distilled into other products. Your views are censored if they do not align with those controlling it. You are locked in without any interoperable exit.
The most free social media is in the fediverse. You can run your own instance for $5-$10 a month and share it with others.
