Why do salaries flatten so sharply?
$145k for 0-1 years of experience, rising gradually to only $167k for 15+ years?
Is a person with 15 years of experience really worth only 10% more?
- atleastoptimal 4y agoI imagine it's because good engineers are smart enough to realize staying an engineer is a thankless job and move to more managerial roles.
- UncleOxidant 4y agoIf that were true it would mean there would be a shortage of experienced engineers which should make them worth more.
- captaincaveman 4y agoThere is, we have a low bar of what a senior engineer imho.
- epicureanideal 4y agoBut the survey uses years of experience, not job titles.
- eddsh1994 4y ago$145k seems too high, $167k seems too low. Weird data - juniors on high rates are more willing to share and seniors in good jobs don't care about these surveys?
- Yoric 4y agoThat's my hypothesis, too.
