If the article were more prescriptive (i.e. it were giving people life advice or suggesting policy) I'd agree. But it's primarily descriptive ("this is what I lived" and the prescriptive parts are limited to "if you find yourself in this situation, here's how to do it better than what I did"). Seems a bit silly to require a meaningless disclaimer on someone's memoir.
