- cratermoon 4y agoThe kind of cursive that I was taught as a kid and that has fallen out of favor is either the Zaner-Bloser Method, the Palmer Method, or its derivative the D'Nealian. All of these have very similar looping cursive letters, the only differences are the style of the block letters and the method of transitioning from them to cursive. A bit of trivia: the joined letters of cursive were developed in response to the limitations of the feather quill. It was important to keep the nib in contact with the paper at all times to avoid splattering and other faults. Today the only reason to keep joins is efficiency, but the other flourishes of old-fashioned cursive are less important.
