What is their business model? Iirc there is some kind of for split between stability AI and LAION, where the latter is noncommercial, and I'm not sure about stability AI.
It would suck if it just turns into another OpenAI variant. Owing money to a bunch of VCs is not going to have a positive effect any way you look at it.
