There are three major issues with trust. Technology, subversion of technology and culture.
Currently the technology is failing what many hoped it would be. A machine that performs perfect calculations. Instead, the machine is just as fallible as we are and maybe more so. Ironically, the more sophisticated the machine becomes as we try to push closer to AGI, it seems to develop the same problems as organic thinking machines.
Then we have the subversion of technology. AI is orders of magnitude more influential than social media. It will be an attractive target for those powers that wish to exert control over the population.
Finally culturally, AI has the propensity of becoming a cultural drug of indulgence where we try to escape reality. Leading to even greater anxiety than what technology has already produced from social media.
I don't think AI will become what we want it to become, as our human nature is inescapable, as I've written about in the Bias Paradox https://dakara.substack.com/p/ai-the-bias-paradox https://dakara.substack.com/p/ai-the-bias-paradox we just encode these problems back into the system.
