It is a feature directly provided by leaflet (https://leafletjs.com/reference.html#control-attribution https://leafletjs.com/reference.html#control-attribution) so I thought there would be no problem in me hiding the prefix. I really have no idea about copyright regulations though so I will take a look.

The feature is in case you use tile layers that don't require attribution. The Mapbox/OpenStreetMap layer need attribution.
