EVs Coming in 2023
- powerbroker 4y agoFrom the article: "Musk said the pickup would start below $40,000, but tellingly those prices have now been removed from the website." Why does this seem to be just part of the pattern? It's not that different than the dealership model -- just played at a much higher level. One could also draw comparisons to the old 'vaporware' marketing technique...
- potatochup 4y agoThe other thing to consider is _when_ the 40,000 price was announced. The model 3 was originally promised to be 35k, and thats roughly held true _if_ you account for inflation. Should Musk account for inflation when making announcements? Well, yes, but he'd need to be accurate with his timelines first...
- roseway4 4y agoAside from the Prius, no mention of much needed mass-market, affordable EVs. Oh, and the Mini Aceman is ugly as sin.
- mlsu 4y agoThis is an artifact of the battery supply crunch. If you're going to make a car battery right now, you should put it into something high end with a huge margin, that will help your brand make a big splash with the wealthiest buyer. I hate that so many of these are twice as large and powerful as they need to be. I'm already seeing that rather than doing a reset of consumer expectations with this new generation (and improving safety, efficiency, environmental impact, speed of transition to electrified vehicles...), we're doubling down on the "huge SUV, fuck everyone else on the road, got mine" model.
