I'd love to see alternative OS' on fire tablets but so far the 2019 and beyond tablets have not been unlocked or jail broken to my knowledge. All you can do is use ADB to disable and remove a few Amazon services, side load apps, etc. I would love to be proven wrong and see a full root for fire tablet 10 2019+!
- cf100clunk 4y agoSince 2018, Amazon has locked down the bootloaders and closed off any exploits anyone could use to gain root on their HD Tablets, hence the need for the Fire Toolkit mentioned elsewhere in these comments.
- qbasic_forever 4y agoYes, fire toolkit is just a wrapper around the ADB protocol. You are not getting root or installing entirely new operating systems like lineage with it though unfortunately. The best you can do are little tweaks, you can't get a 'real' Linux system with full hardware access.
- cf100clunk 4y agoAmazon goes to great efforts to have their HD Tabs be exactly the way they want them at all times. Any steps we take to shut off telemetry, forced apps, forced ads, and other such stuff are a direct threat to their business model for the tablets. Still, the Fire Toolkit developers persist. I could accumulate all the ADB commands if I wanted, but they've done it for us in one tool kit.
- beezle 4y agoI have an aging Huawei tablet, wondering what 10" non-locked down tablets are available these days (at decent price)?
