Perhaps we might get rid of across-subject grade levels but thing that grade levels solve is limited supply of teachers and the coordination of materials and standards. Otherwise we'd live in a world where every child gets their own tutor and their own custom curriculum. Thus in some sense we should strive to have better grade levels, but we'll still have grade levels.
