Korean startup rival to Nvidia seeks $400M valuation and plans new A.I. chip
- iancmceachern 4y agoAre they planning to be fabless?
- cjalmeida 4y agoTSMC will fab for them
- voakbasda 4y agoSomeone needs to dethrone Nvidia. I work with one of their AI-centric chips, and the developer experience is horrible. Their SDK is a hot mess. They break compatibility with every release. They libraries take up over 70% of my 1.5G system image. They are making bank selling their effectively outdated hardware that is still used in older designs. I would be embarrassed working for them, because it’s bad enough working with them.

- neom 4y agoSeems unlikely, their CEO has a PhD in engineering from Georgia Tech, spent 14 years at Samsung working her way up to a senior VP, and then joined SK as their VP of Innovation, only to quickly leave to start this startup (that frankly reads more like an SK subsidiary being shielded from bureaucracy).
- glonq 4y agoCompetition is good, so hopefully this happens for real and it forces Nvidia to offer better product and better pricing.
