The Great Boomer Bottleneck
- pdimitar 4y agoI think we're all tempted to blame the previous generation for our hardships. We all have an innate need for less (or zero) responsibility. So I'm not impressed by the overall tone of the article. That being said, the criticism that the current business and shareholder class (many of whom are indeed boomers) is always squeezing what is there instead of creating new stuff (houses, businesses etc.) is sadly spot on. And I'm not seeing a way out. Wealthy people get used to their income and assets and will never let them go, and that could easily lead to societal collapse once certain boundaries are crossed. Broadly and more philosophically speaking, it is my opinion that we're living in the aftermath of a golden age where everyone strongly pretends we're still in one, while nearly everyone knows that this is not true.
