Conspiracy theories are not the same as increased polarization. If you could wave a magic wand and remove all conspiracy theories from human consciousness there would still be plenty of room for polarization of thought.
I thought Pinewurst's ("From the Nature article selectively quoted ...") response to your comment about COVID vaccines was interesting. Rather than introducing the issue of conspiracy theories would you care to address his response ?
- resource0x 4y agoThank you for the comment free of rude language and labels, This is a rarity nowadays. :-) (BTW, the notion of conspiracy was brought up not by me, I was just responding to the parent). The quote GP cited is taken from the preamble. You have to read the whole article. I was born in USSR and lived there for almost 40 years. Every essay, thesis, dissertation, and science article was supposed to contain the preamble where the authors had to declare their allegiance to the causes of the Communist Party. Even if the dissertation was about elliptic curves. In the preamble, you were supposed also to include some quotes from Lenin, Marx, and the latest Plenum of the Central Committee. And only then were you allowed to proceed to your treatment of elliptic curves. Does this answer your question?
