Welcome Vector Databases, Welcome Bob
- CSSer 4y agoI saw this used recently to automate some process for a Tik Toker selling cosmetics consulting services[0]. My question is why is this a specialized service? Is there prior art for this? Why can't it be built as a Postgres extension à la TimescaleDB[1]? I think seeing this offered in a less proprietary capacity or hearing a valid justification for why this requires such a stark departure from the current state of existing, very mature, and borderline insanely flexible RDBMS available would get me more excited about using this. Disclaimer: I'm not an ML expert. I have only cursory knowledge of the space from playing with Tensorflow, reading various blogs, and general openAI hype. P.S. The integrations look cool, so I hope my comment doesn't seem to insinuate that I don't see any value here. The risk for lock in without recourse just seems huge.
