I had the same exact experience while travelling through Southeast Asia for several months a few years ago. I came to the same conclusions you did, and I'm glad you were able to condense it in such a way. It frustrated me though, to see that their youth were losing their old ways though. Of course it came with some benefits, but I saw them everywhere staring at their phone screens and could only feel nostalgic.
