Flipboard joins the Fediverse with a Mastodon integration
- smoldesu 4y agoIt's cool how ActivityPub is giving some leverage back to down-and-out platforms like Flipboard (or arguably Tumblr). The discoverability/community aspect of the Fediverse lets these platforms remain unique, but connected. The comparison has been made many times before, but this feels like the functional successor to RSS. It remains to be seen how so many disparate platforms will work together, but I'm excited nonetheless. ActivityPub isn't perfect, but this could be a huge step towards opening the web further (and giving people hosted/simpler Mastodon alternatives).
