Why are video games so expensive these days?

- pelagicAustral 4y agoThe guy is actually making the opposite argument. Adjusted for inflation, games are cheaper now than on previous generations... Although, just like him, I was a bit shocked a few weeks back when I purchased a Switch and went to buy Zelda:BotW and noticed the £60 price tag... maybe I'm just a cheap bastard.
- maxHamilton12 4y agoa lot of games have had prices stay flat like the NBA 2k games
- darthrupert 4y agoLike the article says: they're not. If you count in inflation, they're significantly cheaper than in the 90s.
- oidar 4y agoBecause your wages haven't kept up with prices.
- karmakaze 4y agoBecause mobile games are free or $1.49 and there's a lot of free-to-start-playing PC games. What makes games expensive for me is how few I buy per platform so the price of the platform doesn't really get shared across many titles. Now considering a VR setup which is an entirely new gaming PC setup and will likely not have more than a handful of titles I'll play on it before I upgrade/replace it with whichever platform becomes dominant for VR.
