Funny. At my uni (western europe), foundational courses for CS were about 70% maths + electronics + physics, and 30% about DS+algorithms, OS, etc. Literally, the first year of the CS degree one was asking oneself: did I sign up for a Maths degree?
This was 16 years ago or so. Nowadays, it's kinda the opposite.
- is_true 4y agoIt was CS or some real Ted engineering? In my country the systems engineering curriculum is mostly only engineering topics (calculus, algebra, chemistry, physics, management, law) for the first two years. The good thing is that you can choose between different careers til that point without much hasle

- superdeeda 4y agoIt’s actually still the same at other universities. The CS courses OP mentioned are just some of the courses they’ll do during their degree. The rest are also mathematics and other elective science or engineering courses.
